experimeme is pronounced experi-meme. It's a homebrew portmanteau of 'experiments' and 'memes'. It represents the vague driving force behind this personal space I more casually think of as playing with ideas.
The website is put together using the cakephp framework. It's a pretty decent php framework with an active community and a very organised online presence.
All the source code is stored in my subversion repository, and the website is a checked-out copy of the web portion of the repository. Post-commit hooks are used to automatically update the website whenever I commit changes.
Easy Eclipse is my editor of choice, used with various handy plugins including subclipse, phpeclipse, and asdt.
The Flash header is written in ActionScript 3, and compiled using the free Adobe Flex 2 SDK and Flex Ant Tasks. For any ActionScript 2.0 work I use swfmill, mtasc, and custom Ant tasks. Some text throughout the site is replaced with Flash-based fonts using sIFR. It's handy, but it still steals the mouse scroll wheel like all swfs so it can be a bit of a usability annoyance.
